The EERA JP Hydropower SP1 aims to coordinate and align national, regional and European research efforts in the area of hydroelectric units. Specific topics to be addressed are:
- Methods for accurate numerical simulation of hydro and structural dynamics of the hydraulic machine (FSI) over the full operating range and during transient operation
- Digital model of the system dynamics for controlling the hydroelectric units
- Methods for accurate prediction and mitigation of hydraulic machine component erosion by silt laden flow and/or cavitation
- New methodology for lifetime assessment and advanced material law properties of the components of both the hydraulic and the electric machines
- Advanced design, engineering and manufacturing methodologies for every single component of the hydroelectric units integrating reliability, availability, maintainability, safety and sustainbility constraints
- New technology/inventions giving increased flexibility to the power system, and to enhance hydroelectric unit sustainability by mitigating environmnetal impact and integreating circular economy.
